On February 14, 2017, one of the world’s leading lubricant brands announced the creation of a joint venture with Romax Technology’s InSight business. a pioneer in predictive maintenance solutions. With over 30 years’ experience working in the wind sector this deal will combine Castrol’s global reach and knowledge of wind turbine lubrication with Romax InSight’s expertise in predictive maintenance, software and data analytics for wind turbines.
Andy Poon, Romax Technology CEO stated, “We’re always looking at ways to drive innovation at Romax. The aim of Romax InSight is to combine our deep understanding of design and operation of wind turbines with advanced data analytics to provide practical solutions that reduce operations and maintenance costs. We are delighted to find in Castrol a partner who shares this vision and can provide a platform for growth. We look forward to working closely alongside them to take InSight to the next level”.
The creation of the joint venture led to some unique challenges for the business and project team. InSight needed to build and deploy a finance and project costing solution to four new companies in four countries in just 8 weeks. Adoption of the full Microsoft Cloud ecosystem, including Dynamics 365 for Operations and Office 365 provided the perfect platform and architecture to achieve this.
Adam Seaton, MD of Seaton Partners commented, “When we looked at the time constraint, it was the only way forward. The speed with which we could build and deploy a 60+ user system in multiple countries has been a game changer. We simply could not have done this project on premise.”
Insight were also keen to drive a standard solution and adoption of best practice processes which helped with the deployment model, particularly in a multi-company environment. Adam added, “There is no code change, no new fields, no interface tweaks, no custom reports. Nothing. That’s a first in my time.
The solution went live in February 2017 and both parties look forward to working together further as the solution and the joint venture mature.
