Strålfors PLC, an international printing and digital media processing house became a customer of Seaton Partners in 2013. The Swedish owned company; part of PostNord, rolled out Microsoft Dynamics AX2009 to all of its sites, which included the two British sites in 2011.
The version of Dynamics AX was heavily modified in terms of additional integrated modules and bespoke coding to assist with the business processes pertinent to the print industry.
In Mid-2016, the UK was one of the sites sold on by the group, becoming Imprimus Limited which required its own ERP system to replace the incumbent legacy system.
Why Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations?
The original idea was a full migration over of the existing AX2009 software including all modifications, although it was acknowledged that there were time pressures to do this.
An initial scoping of the project looking at the features being used highlighted the reliance on very few customised features when compared to the new Microsoft offering.
The features and benefits of the cloud-based solution were an ideal fit for the vision held by the IT Director, and once the internal project team were shown that existing processes could be easily transitioned with the bonus of all the new features Microsoft had added to the legacy 9-year-old system, the Management team of Imprimus immediately saw only one way forward.
The client requested a like-for-like implementation on existing processes. Seaton Partners took direct responsibility for the project management and data migration which allowed Imprimus to continue with their day-to-day tasks. A test environment was configured and built ready for the business to be retrained on existing ‘AX’ processes and on new features using their own data.
The project went live in June 2017.

Consultancy Director, Jeff Ainger
It helped being close to Robin and his team. When we went on site, they were open to our suggestions and future roadmap ideas.
The project team were very much involved in the choice to go Dynamics 365 as they are a very forward-thinking group and wished to push the software to the latest offering. Having made the decision to go cloud, they were extremely proud to share that information with the local business community and its clients.

When we explained how easy it was to deploy D365 cloud solution, and explained the monthly payment plan for licenses, the customer was delighted.
The team already knew AX2009 so moving forward onto the latest platform was just like moving into a new house, fundamentally things are the same, but with great new enhancements to the functionality. The team were excited to move onto the latest platform, utilising the latest tools.
Projects work when the users are enthusiastic, and every one at Imprimus embraced the changes and helped implement the system in record time.
